Jury Duty

If you received a juror summons from Victoria County, you will need to contact that court regarding your jury service notice. 

Jury Trials are held every other month in the City of Victoria Municipal Court. Please contact the court office at 361-485-3050 within 24 hours of your scheduled time to verify that a jury trial is still scheduled. If you need to reschedule your jury service, you must notify the court in writing 7 days prior to your scheduled day to appear.  You may fill out your juror summons response form by completing this online form.

Exemption or Disqualification: If you wish to claim an exemption or disqualification, you must send proof of your reason to the Municipal Court at P.O. Box 1758 Victoria, Texas 77902 or complete the juror summons online exemption or disqualification form.

Postponement or Excusal: If you wish to file a postponement or excusal request, you must send proof of your reason to the Municipal Court at P.O. Box 1758 Victoria, Texas 77902 or complete the juror summons online postponement or excusal form.

What to Expect

  • The City of Victoria will be having jury trials at the Municipal Court facility located at 107 W. Juan Linn Street, Victoria, Texas 77901
  • When you arrive for jury service, you will report to the jury check-in line with a Municipal Court Clerk. 
  • You will be summoned to the Courtroom to hear a single Class C Misdemeanor case, punishable by fine only.
  • You should expect to be at the court for at least 2 to 5 hours.

Failure to Answer Jury Summons/Juror Contempt

Per Texas Government Code 62.0141

In addition to any criminal penalty prescribed by law, a person summoned for jury service who does not comply with the summons as required by law or who knowingly provides false information in a request for exemption or to be excused from jury service is subject to a contempt action punishable by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000.
