Demolition Delay

Demolition permits for historic structures are automatically stayed for 60 days to allow interested parties to explore alternatives to demolition. This delay applies to any structure built prior to 1950 and listed in the Victoria Historic Resource Survey; any structure located within one of the Historic Districts; any property recorded as a Texas Historical Landmark; or listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Historic Districts

On April 3, 2007 the City Council adopted two historic districts; the Original Townsite Historic District and the Victoria Heights Historic District. The Nine Rivers Historic District was created on September 7, 2010 and the College Park Historic District was created on May 7, 2013.

The placement of manufactured and industrialized housing as well as new billboards are prohibited within the historic districts.
