[ARCHIVED] Planning administrator earns nationwide planning certification

City of Victoria Metropolitan Planning Organization Administrator Maggie Bergeron recently earned her American Institute of Certified Planners certification. To earn this nationally recognized certification, a candidate must have a relevant combination of professional planning experience and higher education and must pass an exam to demonstrate an understanding of research and assessment methods, fundamental planning knowledge, communication and interaction, plan and policy development, plan implementation, administration and management, leadership, areas of planning practice and the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. AICP certified planners must complete 32 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain their certifications. Bergeron joined the City of Victoria in April 2018 as a transportation planner before being promoted to her current role. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis in international relations from Texas Lutheran University and a master’s degree in sustainability studies from Texas State University.
