Chuck Young was sworn in as chief of the Victoria Police Department on May 15 during a ceremony at the Victoria Community Center. The event was attended by City of Victoria leadership, local law enforcement, government officials, family and friends. Young’s promotion was first announced May 1. Young joined the Victoria Police Department in 2021 as a deputy chief. Prior to working for the Victoria Police Department, he served the Dallas Police Department for nearly 40 years, where he rose to the rank of major, and he also served the Dallas Symphony Association as its senior security manager. Young has earned more than 250 awards and commendations throughout his career, including the Officer of the Year award and five life-saving awards.
