The City of Victoria continues to monitor positive cases among employees and follow guidance from the Victoria County Public Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Five additional employees have tested positive for COVID-19 since the City provided its last update July 14. The new cases bring the total number of positive cases among City of Victoria employees to twenty-seven.
Of the 27 positive cases, 12 are active and 15 have recovered. All of the employees with active cases are self-isolated at home and are in good condition. The majority of the active cases are from Public Works and the Victoria Police Department.
The Victoria County Public Health Department is working to identify contacts who may have been exposed to the employees who tested positive. Anyone found to have had a high-risk exposure will be contacted as soon as possible.
Members of the public are strongly encouraged to handle City business remotely through phone or email. Information about how to access services can be found on each department’s homepage at www.victoriatx.gov or by calling 361-485-3110.
Residents are strongly advised to abide by Governor Abbott’s orders and public health recommendations from the CDC to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. These include avoiding large groups, maintaining six feet of distance from others, practicing proper hygiene and wearing facial coverings in public.
