PHOTO: Defendants without access to attend an E-Court appearance can schedule an appointment to use the City of Victoria Municipal Court’s virtual kiosk during Warrant Resolution Month. For information on scheduling an appearance, defendants may contact the court at 361-485-3050 or courtclerk@victoriatx.gov.
The City of Victoria Municipal Court is hosting additional Open E-Court sessions in February to give defendants the opportunity to resolve outstanding warrants without being arrested.
The court will host Open E-Court through Zoom on Monday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 20, at 9 a.m.; and Monday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. Defendants can join the virtual sessions by clicking the E-Court Appearance link at www.victoriatx.gov/municipalcourt. Defendants will need to join early to check in.
Residents without access to Zoom may call the court at 361-485-3050 to discuss their options. Due to the high expected turnout and the need to maintain social distancing, in-person walk-ins will not be accepted.
The extra sessions are part of Warrant Resolution Month, a yearly effort by Municipal Court to allow those with outstanding warrants to speak with a judge or prosecutor to discuss resolution options. Community service or reduced fines may be available.
Municipal Court is mailing postcards and sending text message notifications this week to notify defendants of outstanding warrants and invite them to participate in Open E-Court. Defendants can also look up warrants and pay fines by visiting www.covcourt.com.
