The City of Victoria Parks & Recreation will kick off its 2021 street dance series, hosted in partnership with Glazer (formerly Hartman Distributing), with its Cinco de Mayo Street Dance 2 p.m.-midnight May 1 at DeLeon Plaza.
The Parks & Recreation pop-up park will be on-site to provide games and activities. There will also be live lucha libre Mexican masked wrestling starting at 3 p.m. Performances by Tejano music artists Grupo Solido, La Calma and Magnifico 7 will begin at 6 p.m.
There is no cost to attend. Food and drinks will be available to purchase. No ice chests are allowed. Proceeds from beer sales will benefit Majic 95 Turkeys and Toys, which provides Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas gifts to local families.
Additional street dances will be hosted at DeLeon Plaza on the following dates:
- June 17, 7-10 p.m.
- July 31, 2-11 p.m.
- Aug. 19, 7-10 p.m.
Information about upcoming street dances, including the bands that will perform and the nonprofits that will benefit, will be shared on Facebook at Victoria Parks and Recreation.
Residents are encouraged to practice social distancing in the outdoor space and to wear facial coverings if maintaining distance from others is not possible.
