[ARCHIVED] City, community reach out for Parkway neighborhood cleanup

Large group of people, most wearing safety vests, pose for a photo in front of a church

City employees and community members pose for a group photo Nov. 13 before the Parkway neighborhood cleanup hosted by Keep Victoria Beautiful. About 130 volunteers helped residents to move brush and bulky trash to the curb at 79 locations in the neighborhood. The City of Victoria Environmental Services provided additional pickups in the neighborhood leading up to the event; in total, more than 18 tons of brush and bulky trash were collected at 102 homes, encompassing more than 50% of the neighborhood. The Victoria Fire Department provided no-cost smoke alarm installations, and representatives of other departments provided information about no-cost services available to residents.
