Multiple City and County first responder agencies gained a brave young officer Friday.
The Victoria Police Department hosted a swearing-in ceremony for Devarjaye “DJ” Daniels, 10, on Feb. 18 at the Victoria County Courthouse.
DJ has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and he has a goal of being sworn in by as many law enforcement agencies as possible. So far, he has been sworn in by more than 100 agencies across the state.
DJ was sworn in as an honorary member of the Victoria Police Department; the City of Victoria Fire Marshal’s Office; the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office; the Victoria County District Attorney’s Office; Victoria County Constable’s Offices for precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4; and the Victoria College Police Department.
Representatives of the first responder agencies and other community leaders attended the event, which was livestreamed on the Victoria Police Department Facebook page.
